Two people were killed early this morning in Oakland in a head-on auto collision. The collision that killed them took place when a speeding BMW (reportedly driven by former Raiders linebacker Howard Thomas) went out of control, flew over the median and into oncoming traffic, then hit two more cars. The driver of the BMW and the driver of the last car hit (a Honda CRV) died at the scene. The collision took place on
Highway 880 near Fifth Avenue in Oakland.
According to a report on the local ABC affiliate, the BMW was traveling more than 100 miles per hour. If true, this would likely lead to punitive damages in any wrongful death lawsuit.
