Pdeestrian Stuck and Killed byDrunk Driver
A 25-year old Pacifica pedestrian was
struck and killed by a suspected
drunk driver early Sunday morning. Scott Garrigan was walking along
Skyline Boulevard near Sharp Park Road when he was struck by a car driven by 57-year-old Leopoldo Tobilla. Mr. Tobilla first fled the scene but, to his credit, later returned to the scene of the accident where he was arrested.
Unfortunately, pedestrian accidents are not at all uncommon, especially late at night when visibility may be limited and when
drunk drivers are more common. I have previously written about
dangerous intersections for pedestrians and bicyclists in Oakland.
The family of Mr. Garrigan may have a wrongful death claim against the driver who killed him.
