Pedestrian Struck By Police Car Still Hospitalized

October 21, 2010 –

A pedestrian struck by a San Jose police vehicle remains hospitalized. 63-year-old Fremont resident Lakhbir Chahal was struck on Monday evening on East Santa Clara Street near 14th, in San Jose.

According to a report on KTVU.com, Mr.Chahal was not in a crosswalk at the time he was struck.  While pedestrians generally have the right-of-way California, it is against the law in most instances to cross the street where there is no crosswalk. Although the accident is undoubtedly under investigation, no official results have yet been released.
